Open Letter for Asian American Pacific Islander "AAPI" community

We, the Justice Brandeis Law Society 9th JD, must again speak out. Not about the joys of spring or the Passover holiday, but of hate and violence. The vitriol being directed at the Asian American Pacific Islander "AAPI" community is unacceptable and cannot be ignored.

As Justice Brandeis said: "America has believed that in differentiation, not in uniformity, lies the path of progress. It acted on this belief; it has advanced human happiness, and it has prospered."

The prosperity and happiness he championed is fading and must be restored. We must not only tolerate but must embrace our differences whether they be physical, national or religious. The recent violence in New York, Atlanta and San Francisco, to name just three areas, against members of the AAPI community is intolerant xenophobia which we condemn. As members of the Jewish and legal community, we stand for tolerance, civility and justice for all.

Passover is a time where we hold a seder and tell the story of our liberation from bondage. We celebrate one of the many times in history that we suffered from and fought against bigotry in every form. This Passover, the members of Justice Brandeis Law Society 9th JD not only celebrate our escape from oppression but we wish peace and love to our friends and family in the AAPI community. We feel your pain and we will not be silent.
