VILNA tells the heroic story of Motke Zeidel and Yudi Farber, actual people, who come of age in the remarkable city of Vilna during its degradation in the Interwar years and destruction in World War Two. As their world collapses from being a vibrant metropolis, to a stifling ghetto and finally, to the killing pits in the Ponar forest, they repeatedly face painful moral choices to save others while putting their own lives at risk. For more information and context about the play please see VILNA’s web site at www.vilna-the-play.org.
People who attended staged readings of VILNA wrote:
“I was riveted by the whole performance.”
“Hugely ambitious tapestry. Would want to see again and imagine fully staged”;
“The whole play was beautiful and I was on the edge of tears the entire time.”
“I have seen a lot of Holocaust-related productions, but this one added important information and perspective and focused on aspects of the history I had not heard before.”
